Sesamin is a lignin that activates the Peroxisome Proliferator Activator Receptor Alpha (PPAR alpha). There are three different PPAR classes. The first class is Alpha. The Alpha class is expressed in the heart, muscles, kidneys, adipose tissue, and in other areas. The Gamma class is found in the same gene and there are three main forms including y-1 (all tissues), y-2 (fat tissue), and y-3 (macrophages, white adipose tissue, and intestines).
