Testosterone is one of the most anabolic hormones in the body, giving rise to the primary sexual characteristics that are found in males (and occasionally in females), while functioning in secondary sexual development as well as day to day functions. The body is made of millions and millions of cells, many of which express the androgen receptor that androgens such as testosterone will attach to. When this binding occurs, the nucleus of the cell increases the synthesis of proteins and upregulates metabolic processes. The focus here from a body building standpoint is the protein synthesis that is necessary for repairing, creating, and expanding muscle tissue.

The actual release of testosterone is governed by luteinizing hormone (LH). LH informs the Leydig cells to secrete androgens, including testosterone. Once it has been released, testosterone is controlled by two of the brain’s key mechanisms, albumin and Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG). Albumin is present in a higher concentration than SHBG1, and binds to a higher proportion of total testosterone. However, it is done at a lower affinity than SHBG. Due to this, albumin-bound testosterone can be rapidly split up to allow for androgen receptor binding and interaction. SHBG binds to estrogen, though the affinity for estradiol is low, whereas its affinity for testosterone and DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is very high.

In typical cases, less than 2% of your testosterone concentration is considered to be free (active). This testosterone is sometimes known as Bioavailable Testosterone. At least 50% of your circulating testosterone is bound to SHBG. The rest of the circulating testosterone is albumin-bound. SHBG-bound steroids cannot bind to androgen receptors, which is why even the highest levels of testosterone can be inactive and useless.

ActivaTe changed that by using Divanil, which binds to androgens such as DHT and testosterone by SHBG is significantly reduced because of the high affinity that Divanil has for SHBG. The results are a considerable increase in free testosterone that is manifested in a number of ways, including increased strength and size, along with body composition. The cGMP signals the smooth muscle to relax, which promotes blood flow. It’s PDE-5’s job to breakdown this enzyme, and when it does, blood flow is essentially restricted.

Basella Alba
Also known as Ceylon spinach, Basella Alba is a leafy vegetable that is grown in tropical regions. One of the reasons that Basella Alba has been included is because it’s been shown to increase serum testosterone as well as bodyweight in rats. Additional research in vivo has demonstrated that basella alba appears to exert these effects by stimulating the Leydig cells directly in order to produce testosterone. It is assumed that Basella Alba has an affinity for binding to the LH/CG receptors.
