My name is John Habeeb, I am 25 and reside in northeast PA. The last 6 years of my life have been filled with turbulent events. I ended a successful high school football career, receiving the 2005 regional defensive player of the year award. I played middle linebacker and was involved in head to head collisions almost every play. Eventually, all the stingers I suffered caught up to me. A few months later my football scholarship was stripped after I suffered a ruptured disk in my neck that fragmented into my spinal column, aka a broken neck. My body atrophied and I lost over 30 pounds. The pain was debilitating and did not stop in my neck. It traveled down my arms and made my hands numb due to the pressure that was on my spinal cord. In May 2007, I underwent a three hour neck fusion surgery that permanently placed four screws and a titanium plate in my vertebrae. For the next 19 months, I was forced to rehab my neck and regain my range of motion and mobility. So I had to take some time off to heal up. This period of ambiguity destroyed my physique and created another roadblock for me. I could never find the motivation to get myself back in shape. I always was training for football or another sport and that was my motivation. This body transformation challenge is just what I need to get back on my horse. I plan to dedicate the next 12 weeks to positively transforming my body and mind!
