Silk amino acids are also known as sericin. Sericn is actually a water-soluble protein. This allows sericen to be digested and absorbed much easier. SAA come from silkworm weaving and is actually the sticky substance that is located around the silk. This is a process that results in proteins that are sequenced in a series of 16 chains of single amino acids; but BPI sports suggests that 5 specific amino acids, in a specific ratio and sequence, produce an ideal response.
These five specific amino acids are alanine, glycine, serine, valine, and threonine. SAA research on human test subjects is limited; however, a new study in mice has shown very promising results. When given SSAs, mice were able to exercise twice as long as mice that did not ingest SSAs. This is a performance improvement of 600 percent. Blood lactate (which is an indication of fatigue) remained low in mice taking SSAs. Testosterone production increased by 64 percent while cortisol production decreased. A size increase of 16-percent size was seen in mice taking SAAs.
Even though this study was conducted on mice, its conclusions are promising for those athletes and individuals attempting to build muscle. It is our hope that future research will demonstrate the same effectiveness in human test subjects. In the meantime, they are worth using if you’re looking for a competitive advantage.
